What is Premier Coil Systems?
Premier Coil Systems is a coil system management company that focuses on indoor air quality by providing an easy-to-install and maintain solution. Their website helps people learn about the company, understand its services, and connect with potential clients.
Premier Coil Systems would like to engage more with potential clients and present its new application, which is currently in development.

What is the Challenge?
Premier Coil System’s website is currently outdated, and has several repetitive functionalities present opportunities for improvement. To provide an effective solution, a heuristic analysis, user research, and user testing were conducted to identify key issues and enhance the user experience.
Target Audience
Property owners in Canada
Duration
8 weeks
Now, let’s evaluate the website and understand the problems.
The Premier Coil Systems website needs to be evaluated to properly understand potential users' problems. For this project, heuristic analysis was used to understand potential user blocking issues and discover areas of improvement opportunities.
Content Inventory and Audit
Before evaluating the Premier Coil website, I compiled a content inventory to gain a comprehensive understanding of its content. Additionally, I conducted an audit to assess the quality of the content and identify opportunities for improvement.
Insight from the audit:
The website lacks imagery and in-depth explanations.
Some pages of the website are text-heavy.
Heuristic Analysis
Premier Coil Systems website was evaluated using Jakob Nielsen’s ten usability heuristics with severity rating to identify and prioritize usability problems. Jakob Nielsen’s five step scale is used to represent the severity of the usability problems. The rating of the scale are shown on the right side.
There are Too Many Red Flags!
The heuristic evaluation indicates that the site has at least two usability issues, which are major user-blocking problems. This presents a strong opportunity for improvement in areas such as:
Navigation & User Flow
Design Consistency
Visual Design
Who are the potential users?
Knowing the target audience is crucial to providing a proper solution. In order to understand the potential users of Premier Coil Systems, a survey was distributed, and based on the response, personas of potential users were created.
User Surveys
For quantitative data, user questionnaires were distributed across Canadian property owner groups and pages on Facebook. The questionnaire was open for one week and received 20 responses.
Goals for the questionnaire:
Demographic information (ex. age, gender, education, occupation)
User expectations for coil systems management service.
Usage patterns of users for coil systems.
Device and media preferences
Personas
Based on the survey data, personas were created to align the design process with empathy design.

Identify the specific challenges that potential users are experiencing.
Previously by evaluting the website, it was discovered that the current website has a lot of problems. In order to understand the specific obstacles that the users are facing while visiting the site, usability testing was conducted.
Usability Testing for the current site
The current site was tested for three scenarios to understand if users could perform tasks without assistance. There were 5 participants, and the tests were conducted remotely via Zoom.
Discoveries:
Users experienced delay primarily with navigation-related tasks.
Not all pages were accessible from the navigation bar, leading to user confusion during task completion.
Most of the participants were not satisfied with the website and were unsure whether they would like to get a quote from Premier Coil Systems.
“How can we improve the website to increase engagement from potential clients?”
Mission
Design Focus Point
Improve User Flow and Interface
Redesign the website with a modern, user-centered approach that improves user flow and enhances both navigation and visual appeal for the target audience.
Fix Consistency and Standard
Create a consistency in text and follow industry standards in design to improve user navigation experience on the site.
Sketch Sketch Sketch!
Created a wireframe sketch based on the generated ideas, transferring from ideas to sketch and then to wireframe.
Prototype on Figma
*Text and images will be replaced on final launch.

Future Scope of the Project
The project is still ongoing and in development mode. When the design is semi-ready for the public, these would be the following steps:
Update the contents, which the company will provide, to the site.
Usability testing on the redesigned website to ensure improved user experience.
